well , was a fairly family friendly affair this time round but some decent sets were played & recorded via the devastating presonus 16 channel firewire digital mixer ( gotta get one).

soundcard to soundcard midi sync for the pcs proved to be much more tight than the WAC network midi sync option we had been trialling.

will post some links for midi in/out soundcards ...

some pics below & recordings will start to get uploaded in the next few days.....

Hello Dale, I had another look at your machine, it's not clear why the machine locks up, but it is definitely a mechanical issue, a dry or cracked solder joint, a cracked PCB track to component lead or perhaps a broken connector or cable. All of the top panel rotary pots are loose on their internal mountings, presumably they have been knocked at some point or transported on a road case where the machine could move about. These its are no longer available, the only solution that i know is to mount new pots to the top panel and to cut down the shafts to set the correct knob height, then to connect them to the panel board with flying leads. The faulty faders will need to be removed and disassembled to clean them. There are a few other issues including a dead channel and some bad tact switches, and the backup battery needs to be replaced also.

As there are so many faults and 9 pots to be cut down and replaced along with electronic faults and possibly a failed CEM VCO chip the machine is a bit of a mess, a repair like this would likely exceed $500.00. I can't give an exact quote because the only way to find out why the controls lock up is to basically fix the problem, i.e: to trace and diagnose the problem is 95% of the repair cost. The synth may well need to be calibrated from end to end also if the power supply trim is out of spec.

To repair it to basic working condition I estimate would take between 6-8 hours plus parts costs.

so I said - ok do it.....

well after heaps ov toil & spending of $$$ we now have a silent , off grid 1200w power supply ready to roll that should hopefully do around 6-8 hrs continuous . sorry no subs as they suck too much juice.
