DRum Machine vs. Loop Based Sequencing

this is actually a link to a thread on Ragga-jungle- just thought I'd share it... Clip&Carbine wrote: "Generally, I've found that producers either work in a loop based format or a drum machine based format when composing their breaks and beats. I've synthesized the two on occasion, so they don't exclude eachother necessarily. My question to you, the producer, is- what are the benefits and drawbacks to each respective method for rhythmatic composition?" http://ragga-jungle.com/lofiversion/index.php/t9247.html I *think* "rhythmatic"="rhythmic" in your realm... so read and/or discuss, I guess... ...oh, yeah... personally, I like playing with loop-based beats -prolly due to my "dubby" preferences... however, I prefer most other components to be midi/synth based...

I like to use loops in beatslicers, and then rearrange them. I feel that instead of making and tuning a kit, it automatically is in tune ( to a degree sometimes). I also use this method often for writing melody. I have little experience with drum machines in a studio setting, I only use to use them when I was still in bands.
