Your monitors should be firing down the longest part of your room and your listening position should be 38% away from the wall behind your speakers in relation to the length. So for example if you have a room that is 10'x12' you would want to be looking at one of the 10' walls and your listening position should be 4.56' away from that 10' wall. 12' X .38 = 4.56'

Your listening position is basically where your ears are while listening to music sitting down in front of your monitors.

Another thing, try not to have your monitors right up against a wall. They should be around 1.5' away at least.
